Wedding Mentorship with Johnny Waller {Teaching}

Last week we had the amazing opportunity to work with Johnny and Amber Waller (of Johnny Waller Productions) in our very first wedding mentorship program.  Johnny is an extremely talented videographer, and also a talented photographer, but he had never photographed a wedding before.  Weddings are a HUGE deal, so he asked Kevin and I if we would mentor him through his first wedding experience.  Kevin and I have mentored photographers before, but this was our first on-the-job wedding mentor experience, and it was a great success!

We met with Johnny beforehand and talked through the wedding day, details to be prepared for, and strategies for achieving the best images.  Then, on the day of the wedding, we were Johnny's wingmen and resource for all things wedding.  We second shot with him, but he took the starring role as lead photographer with his clients.  We were there for reassurance, guidance, comfort, and coverage.  We were there for technical assistance, posing suggestions and troubleshooting.  Basically, we were there to try and make Johnny's wedding as relaxing as possible for Johnny and the bride and groom.We absolutely love Johnny and his beautiful bride, Amber, and appreciate them asking us along to their wedding at the gorgeous Planterra.  Check out the image below that Johnny shot of Michael and Sarah before the ceremony.  Man, we love his style!  :)

If you are a photographer (or if you know a photographer) that would like more information on our mentorship programs, please contact us at info@ignitedphotography.com or 248.670.6346.  Our programs are custom designed to the needs of our photographers.  Email or call us today.

Sean & Jessica {Engaged!}

We may have picked the coldest day yet this winter for Sean and Jessica's Engagement Session, but it didn't matter because the evening was HOT, and Sean and Jess kept us laughing the whole time! What a great evening to connect and to capture some romance between the two of them.

We started out in the woods and fields to capture a bit of the beauty of the freshly fallen snow.  Both Sean and Jess love the outdoors, so it was a very fitting place to start - a perfect place for the flannels and Carharts.  Then, it was off to downtown Howell to spend time getting to know each other in and around the city.  First stop was in the Uptown Coffeehouse to warm ourselves up for the inside out with a cup of cocoa and coffee.  Then, we headed around the corner to the Howell Western Wear store - what a GREAT shop and friendly people!  They were enthusiastic about letting us use their store for engagement portraits, and we were able to use their hats, boots, changing room and decorations to get some really fun images of Sean and Jess.  Kevin and I will definitely be stopping by there again to do some shopping soon - I absolutely fell in love with the place!

After we finished up in town, we headed over to the historic Howell Train Depot to finish out the evening.  The wind was whipping up as the sun started to set so we had to wrap our session up quickly, but we still had a great time with Sean and Jessica.  They were so hardy and willing to try just about anything.  We seriously cannot wait for their wedding in September!~ Kevin & Heather

S Strickland {Senior Mini-Session}

The wind was blowing, the cold air was biting, the snowflakes were tumbling down; and while our mini-session with Scarlett may have been chilly, the afternoon was still a ton of fun!  Both Kevin and I felt it was worth braving the cold to capture winter beauty at it's best, but the real person to ask would be Scarlett.  We were both moving around working up some heat in our thick winter jackets, gloves and layers while Scarlett stood shivering in the wind.  You'd never guess she was even the slightest bit cold though, with her amazing smile and boss modeling skills.  :)

Scarlett is near and dear to our hearts because she has been our photography intern for the past 2 years.  Now she is a talented photographer of her own, with a successful company and multiple photography scholarships to colleges all over the country.  Just recently she was also nominated for the Award of Excellence Full Scholarship at The College of Creative Studies here in the Detroit area!  She is full of remarkable potential and we are excited to see where Scarlett's future leads.

These images below are just a small sample of Scarlett's complete Senior Portraits.  She wanted a few images to capture the beauty of snow and winter, but the rest of her session will be captured in the spring when the weather is a bit more friendly.  Enjoy her teasers and check back in a few months for the rest!

Gabrielle Gow {Equine Portraits}

Sometimes spontaneous photo shoots can be the most fun and the most meaningful.  Kevin and I don't usually have a lot of free time, but this somewhat warm(ish) winter afternoon we finished up our work early and headed out into the back field to capture some spur-of-the moment shots of Gabby and Romeo.

I just love how they show the connection and bond between a horse and his girl.  <3  That's a relationship like no other and one to which I can fully relate.

Noah + Audri {Engaged}

Yesterday we had so much fun playing out in the snow with Audri and Noah for their engagement portraits.  They were amazingly hardy in the biting cold, but the experience was so worth the frostbite!  <brrrrrrr>

Audri has been an important part of our lives for the past few years and we are so happy to welcome Noah to the relationship.  Noah will definitely keep you howling with laughter - he has a fun and zany sense of humor, to be sure!  The only downside to the craziness - we actually had to work on NOT smiling too much - how often does that happen?!?  lol

The best part of the evening was the spontaneous snowball fight just before we all were completely frozen from head-to-toe (Audri and Noah even more so then us) and had to head inside.

Enjoy this small sample of images from their session and leave Noah and Audri some love.  :)
