David Holt {2012 Senior}

Typically, March senior portraits sessions are taken in thick sweaters, scarves, mittens and boots.  Layers, layers and more layers.  Not this spring, though.  Our senior portrait session with David Holt was gorgeous - 76 degrees, sunny and just a tiny bit breezy!  Did I mention it was gorgeous?!?  It's as if we've been picked up and transported to Florida!  Although it may not last, you will not find us complaining about the early spring.  We are enjoying comfortable, temperate outdoor portrait sessions again.  Yay!!!

We met David and his family in downtown Dearborn for his senior portrait session on Monday.  We feel like we're keeping it all in the family because we photographed David's cousin, Donovin, last summer and we have a session this evening with David's cousin, Kenneth.  We really love this family and are so grateful that we've gotten a chance to get to know them all.  Thanks Wayne for the initial referral, and thanks Aziza for continuing to refer us!  :)

Enjoy these teasers from our session with David, and keep a look out for Kenneth's portraits within the next few days.

Michael & Sarah {Wedding}

Our wedding mentorship with Johnny Waller (of Johnny Waller Productions) was a great success last week, and the wedding of Michael and Sarah was gorgeous!  Both the ceremony and the reception were held at the new Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield.  To say the venue was beautiful would be an understatement - it was GORGEOUS!  I have to say that it is now rated as one of our favorite venues, both for it's architecture and tropical elegance.  The owners of Planterra have done an incredible job in transforming a greenhouse and botanical garden into something absolutely spectacular.  I would say this is one of THE prime locations for a winter wedding in the Metro Detroit area!

Congratulations again to Michael and Sarah!  May you be blessed with a lifetime of joy and happiness together.

Sean & Jessica {Engaged!}

We may have picked the coldest day yet this winter for Sean and Jessica's Engagement Session, but it didn't matter because the evening was HOT, and Sean and Jess kept us laughing the whole time! What a great evening to connect and to capture some romance between the two of them.

We started out in the woods and fields to capture a bit of the beauty of the freshly fallen snow.  Both Sean and Jess love the outdoors, so it was a very fitting place to start - a perfect place for the flannels and Carharts.  Then, it was off to downtown Howell to spend time getting to know each other in and around the city.  First stop was in the Uptown Coffeehouse to warm ourselves up for the inside out with a cup of cocoa and coffee.  Then, we headed around the corner to the Howell Western Wear store - what a GREAT shop and friendly people!  They were enthusiastic about letting us use their store for engagement portraits, and we were able to use their hats, boots, changing room and decorations to get some really fun images of Sean and Jess.  Kevin and I will definitely be stopping by there again to do some shopping soon - I absolutely fell in love with the place!

After we finished up in town, we headed over to the historic Howell Train Depot to finish out the evening.  The wind was whipping up as the sun started to set so we had to wrap our session up quickly, but we still had a great time with Sean and Jessica.  They were so hardy and willing to try just about anything.  We seriously cannot wait for their wedding in September!~ Kevin & Heather

S Strickland {Senior Mini-Session}

The wind was blowing, the cold air was biting, the snowflakes were tumbling down; and while our mini-session with Scarlett may have been chilly, the afternoon was still a ton of fun!  Both Kevin and I felt it was worth braving the cold to capture winter beauty at it's best, but the real person to ask would be Scarlett.  We were both moving around working up some heat in our thick winter jackets, gloves and layers while Scarlett stood shivering in the wind.  You'd never guess she was even the slightest bit cold though, with her amazing smile and boss modeling skills.  :)

Scarlett is near and dear to our hearts because she has been our photography intern for the past 2 years.  Now she is a talented photographer of her own, with a successful company and multiple photography scholarships to colleges all over the country.  Just recently she was also nominated for the Award of Excellence Full Scholarship at The College of Creative Studies here in the Detroit area!  She is full of remarkable potential and we are excited to see where Scarlett's future leads.

These images below are just a small sample of Scarlett's complete Senior Portraits.  She wanted a few images to capture the beauty of snow and winter, but the rest of her session will be captured in the spring when the weather is a bit more friendly.  Enjoy her teasers and check back in a few months for the rest!

Gabrielle Gow {Equine Portraits}

Sometimes spontaneous photo shoots can be the most fun and the most meaningful.  Kevin and I don't usually have a lot of free time, but this somewhat warm(ish) winter afternoon we finished up our work early and headed out into the back field to capture some spur-of-the moment shots of Gabby and Romeo.

I just love how they show the connection and bond between a horse and his girl.  <3  That's a relationship like no other and one to which I can fully relate.
